Brigid's Cross Pendant

Brigid of the Flame, Goddess of the Hearth and of the Forge.  Goddess of healing and of wisdom.  A solar goddess so loved that she's remained part of daily life in Ireland for many still today, and her cross adopted as a national symbol of Ireland.

Brigid's Cross is woven from rushes or often straw as Imbolc celebrates the coming of Spring.  They are then hung in the home to bring blessings and protection for the rest of the year.

The Irish Celts seemed to have represented the Sun with the spiral, hence the spiral motif encircling the cross.
